Today's saddest poem, from Little Boy Blue, by Gray Jacobik

When you came home again, after a decade,
in California, age forty, your marriage over,

your girlfriend chasing you out with the dogs
while she sold the house, bedraggled

& frightened after four days & nights
in your truck crossing the country—

I showed you the room I’d prepared for you
& you said, Mom, this is too nice for me.
