Thank goodness: the Threepenny Review has finally taken another essay, my new Elizabeth Bowen one, which will appear in the spring 2010 issue. I was beginning to worry that the editor would never again like anything I write.

IS it Wendy? She is the toughest sell anywhere. Of course, she would love your work. She has the highest standards of anyone.

Love the barry manilow showgirl stepping this is the 80s poem.

Actually Wendy usually hates my work and is not embarrassed to tell me so. The flip side is that once in a while she doesn't, so I keep sending her stuff. Getting accepted at Threepenny feels somewhat like a dream in which one has successfully performed a complicated gymnastics/limbo routine in handcuffs and bunny slippers.
